Having fun with destructive optics

OK, imagine a coffe break and some discussion about warfare in the ancient greek battles. Then somebody tells you about Archimedes using a 'Death Ray' of condensed sunlight to set the roman battleships afire, and then you become interested... Hmmm, optics, light and destruction, always a good combination!
