A piece of history: The Cargo Cult Science talk

One of the scientists I find most inspiring is Richard Feynman. One of his greatests texts is available online: Cargo Cult Science. It is a great reminder of the scientific method and a debunking of pseudoscience.

Amazing Raytracing

We all know raytracing as a way to determine the quality of optical systems. However, the inverse form - shooting photons from the image to the scene to see where they came from - has been used for a long time in photorealistic rendering. A short movie, fully developed and rendered using open source tools has now been made available at http://www.elephantsdream.org/ . AFAIAC, quite amazing and intriguing, although the story (or perceived lack of it) might not appeal to all.
